Bukwild for Fandom B2B

When our conversation first started, we were aware of Fandom, but not aware of their B2B endpoint at about.fandom.com. Evelyn was able to walk us through the purpose, background, and shortcomings of the microsite, which is primarily focused at advertisers and other brands looking to do business with Fandom at large.

We have experience working with this type of site; SXM Media/Pandora for Brands has been a client of ours for years, and they use a similar microsite/alt site approach when making their case to advertisers and prospects via content marketing and lead generation.

Evelyn was clear that, for now, there's not a need to replace the existing site, but that there were several discrete improvements that she was looking to make, and that internal development/design resources are not currently equipped to handle those changes.

Which is where Bukwild comes in.

Identified Needs + Requirements

Evelyn was clear to outline the various things that she felt were a good starting point for improving the site. Here are a few highlights

Project Approach

The most efficient way for Bukwild to engage with Fandom on this work is to have a single point of Discovery where we unearth and explore all of the things that COULD be included in the three Phases listed below (this could mean a list of to-do items delivered from Fandom, as well as an idea that we all had together in a workshop that would go towards achieving the goal(s) of the project, e.g.) and then work with Evelyn to prioritize those things against time, as well as the available budget.

It is different from a standard SOW-style project, only in that it allows the client (Fandom) to engage before the creation of a specific and complete list of to-do items. This approach, plainly, helps get us engaged with you sooner vs. later, so we can help you identify and organize the jobs to be done.

Once we discover and discuss the full list of tasks, your dedicated Bukwild project manager would organize those tasks into a series of sprints to get the work done, reviewed, and—when ready—launched.

Phase

01
Minor tweaks & improvements to overall site UX

Quick Fixes

For browser-based and other bugs

Investigation + Correction

Of graphics glitches + other rendering errors

Phase

02
More significant changes to intra-page components (improve in-page UX and elevate value props)

Revamp

Page structure & look & feel

Update Content

Add existing thought leadership content: Research, case studies

Reg Gating

Collect emails + info from downloading users

Phase

03
Add multiple language capabilities to Craft (and support human-translation workflow for identified pages)

Design + Define

Workflow for translating and publishing content

Integrate

with fandom's chosen translation partner

Timing

Approx 8-10 Weeks from Kickoff

Our expectations surrounding timing is that we would engage with Fandom in early January for paperwork and planning of the project. From there, we would target a 2-3 month turnaround time, pending any specific requests from Fandom. Again, if needed: we can push incremental improvements and changes to the site as they are completed.

Budget

$40k Allocation from Client

Evelyn has noted that Fandom has $40k total for this work. We'll treat the engagement as a budget-led project, which means that we'll tailor and prioritize the most important work to fit within that budget allocation. If there are items leftover once that budget has been spent, there will be multiple opportunities to refuel the project and keep going, or convert to a subscription/retainer based engagement and have Bukwild continue to optimize and extend the site.

Ongoing Support

Starting at $8k per month

Working in the way described above is a perfect introduction to how it feels to work with Bukwild in an ongoing support subscription. We meet with our client teams quarterly to plan and organize the tasks to be done on the website, and allow time in each week's sprint for support tasks, bugs, and other short-notice items.
